Treasure!
at Turtle Bay Exploration Park
Now - May 3, 2020
Treasure! explores the history of treasures and treasure hunting, the technology employed in hunting treasure, as well as the people and personalities that hunt for treasure. The traveling museum exhibition will be on display at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding, CA between January 24 - May 3, 2020.
Treasure! offers a wide range of thematic areas and hands-on activities that allow guests to try tools of treasure hunting and investigate treasures. Special exhibit features include actual artifacts from shipwrecks and other treasure sites. Visitors are invited to go on a treasure hunt in the exhibit to solve the mystery of the special treasure chest.
Examples of exhibit items include a life-sized cannon, jewels, firearms, diving equipment, treasure-related pop culture, books, musical instruments, pottery, gold panning, and more. In addition to commonly held ideas of treasure, i.e. gold, silver, and jewels, this exhibition challenges guests to reflect on other forms of personal items, such as memories, photographs, and time spent with others.
Access to Treasure! is free for Turtle Bay Members or included with paid Park Admission. Winter hours in the Museum are 9am-4pm on weekdays and 10am-4pm on weekends. The Museum is open Wednesday-Sunday and closed Monday-Tuesday. This exhibition at Turtle Bay is supported by Sherrill Bambauer and Rick & Pamela Hill.
