Turtle Bay’s Discovery Camps are an opportunity for 7 – 12-year-olds to participate in various science activities, crafts, games, and more! At Turtle Bay, we encourage interactive and hands-on learning that builds on prior knowledge. We encourage campers to try new and different activities and experiments. Sequential days will build off the previous day’s work as we explore science, arts, and the surrounding natural world. Throughout the week, campers will also have opportunities to attend Turtle Bay programs, visit the Parrot Playhouse, enjoy the playgrounds, and explore our exhibitions, gardens, and more.

Camp Registration Fees (per week):
$225 for members, $250 for nonmembers

Summer Discovery Camps

Please take a look at the dates and themes below for Summer Camp options. Weeks with the same theme will have the same schedule and the same themed activities planned.

THIS SUMMER, WE HAVE TWO CAMP LOCATIONS EACH WEEK FOR DOUBLE THE FUN!

This summer we are excited to continue expanding our camp opportunities across the Sacramento River! We will have two separate “Home Bases” – one at the Museum and the second at the Turtle Bay Nursery – housed in our brand-new Environmental Resources Building! Both camp locations/groups will have the opportunity to interact with each other and explore all that Turtle Bay has to offer including animals, exhibitions, gardens, and more! Themed activities will be the same no matter which location is a camper’s Home Base. Upon registration, please pay careful attention to which Home Base location that you are registering your child for.

Earth, fire, wind, and water; explore the elements all around us in a week of hands-on science! Cook a s’more in a solar oven, observe the big (and microscopic!) life in the river, try your hand at creating wind energy, see the power of erosion, and learn about what we can do as human beings to help keep these elements in balance instead of fighting against them.

Blend the best of building, designing, and exploring all together! Whether it’s constructing towering skyscrapers with LEGO, crafting pixelated worlds in the style of Minecraft, or taking on unique camp challenges like building incredible structures or crafting contraptions, there’s always something happening! This week is all about fostering creativity, encouraging teamwork, and letting each camper's imagination run wild.

Get ready to do some dynamic, interactive art! Collaborate on large-scale projects with fellow campers, create a painting of your own emotions, get messy with some splatter art, and tell stories through dramatic performances! Bring your creativity and your energy for this journey of mixed-media activities that is sure to bring out the artist in everyone.
