Mosaic Gallery: Suzie Burgess Exhibition
We had the amazing opportunity to refresh the Mosaic Gallery with equestrian artwork by the incredible Suzie Burgess. These stunning, life-like pieces are now on display and must be viewed up close and in-person to appreciate how she is able to capture the raw beauty and power of these animals.
Here is a statement from the artist:
A lifelong horse lover, Burgess has transformed her passion into tangible results to become a growing name in the equestrian art sphere. Her masterpieces from various collections have been spotlighted at multiple showings on the West Coast, and her life-size portraits have most especially earned acclaim. An expert at completing realistic commissioned paintings as well as original work, Burgess is able to capture the intricacies of the equine spirit that can be enjoyed for lifetimes.
"My paintings enable the viewer to truly experience the horse on canvas. I paint these animals life-size, because I love being in their presence and I love large works of art. Horses have brought a lot of healing in my life and their beauty and power have truly inspired me to be more present. I love the process of painting, there is a flow that takes place where hours pass and I am totally unaware. Making the choice to follow this passion of mine has centered me in a very tangible way. I painted figurative work for a long time and there came a point where I just wasn't feeling excited about the process. I had a horse at the time and started to spend hours in the field with him and my camera. I thought to myself ...'Why don't I just paint huge paintings of horses!' So, four years ago I decided to go for it...!!!"
Suzie, formally from Massachusetts, and her husband Jack, from Lexington, KY, have called Redding their home for 8 years. They have two daughters whom they adore, Abigail and Eloise..... along with two horses, two dogs, three ducks, a cat and a fish.
